Job Description

The Country Club of Virginia is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Clubhouse Manager to lead the next chapter of the Club’s evolution. The James River Clubhouse, currently under renovation, is slated to open this Fall following nine months of construction, building a brand-new state-of-the-art restaurant, bar, and kitchen.

The James River Assistant Clubhouse Manager helps lead the food and beverage team at the James River Campus and aims to ensure seamless daily operations while delivering the highest level of hospitality. The role is a perfect opportunity for the ideal candidate to do their best work, supported by a well-equipped and well-appointed facility. Key Responsibilities:

· Help oversee all clubhouse operations, including dining, events, members services, and facility management

· Assist, lead, and inspire staff to provide top-tier hospitality and service

· Ensure the clubhouse maintains a warm, welcoming, and professional atmosphere

· Establish and uphold a culture of world-class training and staff development

· Work closely with the culinary and events teams to deliver exceptional member experiences

· Help manage budgets, vendor relationships, and inventory to maintain cost-effective operations

· Implement and uphold club policies, standards, and health/safety regulations

· Engage with members to foster a strong sense of community and satisfaction

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage 25-35 employees
  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training staff, planning and assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining staff, addressing complaints and resolving problems, scheduling employees, and processing payroll as assigned by the Clubhouse Manager
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures
  • Operate point-of-sale computer system: instruct and train staff
  • Maintain inventory and organization of supplies and assets
  • Schedule employees and process timecards for bi-weekly payroll
  • Work in partnership with the culinary team
  • Design and implement training and incentive programs
  • Attend CCV professional development seminars
  • Attend supervisory meetings and service/production meetings to share ideas and concerns
  • Lead the operation in absence of clubhouse manager
  • Evaluate present operations and develop new ideas for the future
  • Facilitate supervisory meetings and line-ups
  • Coordinate events and functions at the James River Clubhouse
  • Provide leadership for clubhouse staff: promote a high standard of excellence and ensure member satisfaction

Candidate Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills:

· Previous experience in club management, hospitality, or a similar leadership role

· Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills

· Financial acumen and managing cost of goods

· Ability to plan and manage multiple priorities while maintaining high service standards

· High-volume a la carte dining experience

· Knowledge of food and beverage event operations

· Passion for providing an elevated guest experience
