San Angelo Country Club is a private member-owned country club with a traditional small town atmosphere on the beautiful Concho River in San Angelo Texas. Originally opened in 1921 with the first John Bredemus design in Texas, we have been at the heart of championship golf in West Texas for over a century. With an active golf, tennis, and social membership, we remain as a gem of the community. Our clubhoue overlooking the Concho River features an upscale setting to enjoy a special event, upscale dining, and a variety of dining experiences for our members and their guests.

Membership and Communications Director

Job Description

The Membership and Communications Director is responsible for attracting and retaining new members while also serving the satisfaction of existing members. This position is responsible for planning and executing marketing strategies to increase membership, promote club events, and timely and effectively communicate club-wide information in a manner that is consistent with the club’s vision and mission.

Core Responsibilities:

Membership Growth and Retention

  • Proactively drive member recruitment by identifying, nurturing, and converting prospective members through outreach, referrals, tours, and strategic events.
  • Manage the full onboarding process, including welcome materials, orientations, and early-stage engagement strategies to help new members feel immediately connected.
  • Track membership trends, provide monthly reporting to the General Manager and Board of Directors, and recommend adjustments to category structure, pricing, or benefits to support growth and retention.
  • Act as the liaison for resignations, reactivations, and membership category changes with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Marketing and Communications

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan that aligns with SACC’s strategic vision—including consistent branding, digital strategy, collateral creation, and storytelling.
  • Serve as the chief content creator and curator for internal and external communications, including email campaigns, social media, website updates, member newsletters, and press releases.
  • Ensure the consistency of SACC's voice and brand identity across all communication channels.
  • Collaborate with local media, community partners, and vendors to elevate the club’s public profile.

Member Experience and Engagement

  • Collaborate with all department heads (golf, events, F&B, tennis, and aquatics) to create and promote club-wide events, programming, and campaigns that drive member participation and satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the Women’s and Men’s Associations, Junior Program coordinators, and other key member groups to promote community within the club.
  • Serve as a visible and engaged presence at club events, building authentic relationships with members and ensuring hospitality standards are consistently met.
  • Collect member feedback through surveys, informal check-ins, and direct communication; provide insights to the General Manager to support a culture of continuous improvement.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in private clubs, hospitality, or lifestyle marketing with a proven track record in member/client engagement.
  • Proficiency with modern marketing platforms including Canva, social media scheduling tools, ClubEssential, and other related communications platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; graphic design and photography/video editing experience a bonus.
  • Organized, resourceful, and able to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays occasionally as required for club events.
