Founded in 1908, Houston Country Club has thrived as a generational family club that enjoys recognition for its excellence in its facilities, programming, services, membership, and staff. With a rich history spanning over a century, the Club remains steadfast in its original purpose and enduring values, evident in its consistent growth from its humble beginnings of several hundred members in 1908 to its current membership of 1,300 today, and a recent significant capital investment in the future.
At its core, the Club is a family-oriented neighborhood club (“home away from home”) where members can comfortably gather, celebrate, and create life-long memories with their children, grandchildren, and guests. It is the sense of camaraderie and fellowship within the membership that truly makes it unique and which has gracefully endured over the years.
Beyond the elegant surroundings, deep traditions and history, outstanding athletic and culinary offerings, the recent significant capital projects have elevated the Club's excellence even further. Houston Country Club has exemplified its unwavering dedication to its values and the enduring sense of community among its members by looking forward and investing in the future. This is evident through the recent campus renovations which include a modern world-class fitness facility, an event lawn, the pool Club Café, pickleball courts, a full Clubhouse renovation with nine dining venues, and a standalone Pro Shop facility.
The Club’s future projects will include a major golf course restoration led by Andrew Green, one of the most highly sought-after golf course architects in America today, and the restoration of the Bayou frontage along the golf course. It is this steadfast dedication to sustainability and continued long-term investments that ensures the Club will continue to thrive, remaining an integral part of the fabric of Houston's social and cultural landscape for generations to come.
