Service Director

Job Description

The Service Director will be responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations, ensuring a high standard of service in the dining room, bar, and special event areas. This position includes direct supervision of Dining Room Supervisors, servers, bartenders, host/hostesses, and server assistants, as well as collaborating closely with kitchen and management teams to maintain seamless service delivery. The Service Director will report directly to the Executive Chef/ Food and Beverage Director.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Overall Supervision: Lead and manage Dining Room Supervisors and staff, ensuring exceptional guest service, smooth operations, and adherence to company policies.
  • Operational Leadership: Ensure the efficient operation of all service areas, including the dining room, bar, and event spaces. Supervise daily activities such as food delivery, drink preparation, and table resets.
  • Staff Development: Oversee the training, development, and performance management of front-of-house staff, including conducting regular evaluations and coaching sessions to maintain a high standard of service.
  • Member Relations: Handle member complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner, ensuring a positive and consistent experience for all members and guests.
  • Shift Oversight: Manage scheduling, check-out procedures for servers, and ensure all tickets and BEOs (Banquet Event Orders) are properly closed and turned in at the end of each shift.
  • Event Coordination: Work with the Banquet & Catering Manager to ensure smooth execution of all events, including banquets, private parties, and special occasions.
  • Reporting: Assist with end-of-day (EOD) reports, operational audits, and financial tracking related to dining operations.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all service areas are in compliance with health and safety regulations and that staff adhere to company procedures regarding food safety, sanitation, and safety protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in staff training sessions, evaluate service procedures, and recommend changes or improvements to enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the management team to provide feedback, resolve issues, and contribute to the development of service strategies and goals.

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role in a high-volume, fine-dining, or private club setting. Previous experience as a Dining Room Supervisor or Manager is preferred.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work varying hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on the club’s operating hours.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and motivate a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Multitasking: Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • Professionalism: Must consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, professionalism, and adaptability in all interactions with members, staff, and management.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and move efficiently between different areas of the property. Ability to push/pull up to 40 pounds.
