Grandfather Golf and Country Club is a private club located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. We have a rich history here in the community and take pride in our amazing facility and the service we provide to our well-deserved, caring membership. We also excel at taking care of our team and work hard to be an Employer of Choice in the High Country. This is truly a magical place, filled with numerous events and social gatherings throughout the season for all to enjoy. We are a family-oriented Club and offer our members' children 10 weeks of summer camp during the season.

Golf Facilities

We offer our members the finest in mountain golf, steeped in tradition. Framed by the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, our masterfully designed courses will help our members experience golf in an entirely new way. Our Championship course has been rated the number 2 course in the Top 100 courses right after Pinehurst in North Carolina. Our Mountain Springs course is ideal for family play. The Mountain Springs Course at Grandfather Club allows golfers of all skill levels to enjoy the unique experience and beauty of mountain golf. Whether your group contains avid golfers or novices, you can all enjoy the Mountain Springs Course. Both are designed by Ellis Maples.

We have twelve outdoor courts, three indoor courts and three pickleball courts.

Swimming Facilities

We have a beautiful lake that our members and their children enjoy swimming in, along with a white sand beach.

Other Athletic Facilities

We have a newly renovated Fitness Center with state-of-the-art equipment. We offer personal training, group ex classes, as well as massage and dry needling.

  • 1 Outdoor Dining that seats 120
We offer four very different dining facilities which all offer different menu's and dining experiences. Our Casual dining room is the Scottish Grill, our Formal Dining Room is the MacRae, our Outdoor dining venues are the Beach Pavilion with both covered and outdoor dining and the 10th Tee, is outdoors as well, frequented often by our golfers.

Member and Special Events Manager

Job Description

The Member and Special Events Manager plays a crucial role in planning and executing member events at the Club. In this role, there is a great deal of member interaction, and it requires a high level of attention to detail in all aspects of catering events. This individual will maintain the club's social calendar of Banquets and Special Functions, as well as plan, coordinate, and stage these events. This role partners closely with other Food and Beverage departments to deliver high-quality events on time and on budget, in accordance with our club standards. There is also an opportunity to assist in all Member Dining Outlets in a supervisory capacity.

Candidate Qualifications

  • 2+ year experience in events, weddings, banquets, hospitality, or a related service environment (club/resort experience a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple events, deadlines, and details simultaneously
  • Experience supporting or creating event documentation (BEOs, timelines, floor plans/diagrams, checklists)
  • Professional, member/guest-focused communication style (written, verbal, and in-person)
  • Confident coordinating with vendors and internal departments to ensure alignment and smooth execution
  • Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving skills during live events
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in event details, billing information, and follow-up items
  • Comfortable learning and using event/event-operations software (e.g., Jonas Encore, Club Passport, PriSzm, OneNote or similar platforms)
  • Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays based on weddings and large-scale member events

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred (Hospitality Management, Event Management, Communications, Business, or related field)
  • Event/Wedding planning coursework or certifications a plus (e.g., event planning certificate, CMP track coursework, wedding planning programs)
