Southampton Golf Club is a private club located in the heart of the Hamptons on the east end of Long Island.  Founded in 1925 and designed by renowned architect Seth Raynor, the club has just celebrated its 100th year anniversary.  Our 18-hole par 70 layout has Poa/bent greens, blue/rye/poa tees and fairways, and fescue rough.  The clubhouse is a converted barn with full service food and beverage areas which include an 80 seat dining area, 40 seat bar/lounge area and 80 seat outdoor patio and covered porch area.  Southampton has hosted the US Open local qualifier three times as well as numerous MGA events including this year’s MGA Junior Championship.  We look forward to hosting the 2026 local qualifying round this spring with the US open coming to Shinnceock Hills Golf Club right next door.  The course hosts 21,000 Member and guest rounds annually between April and November.

The culture at Southampton is unique.  The Membership embraces their club for its unique value in providing a true respite from their busy lives.  There is a unique cohesive relationship with members and staff that, while maintaining professionalism, there is mutual support and respect for the goals and objectives of the Club for its members and their guests.

There are several special events held throughout the season and all are well supported and enjoyed by the membership.  The club generally does not host any outside events as our membership is active in their use of the club.

Beverage Manager

Job Description

The Beverage Manager at Southampton Golf Club will have the following duties,  goals       and objectives:

  • Daily professional beverage creation and service in a friendly and gracious manner to Members and their guests.
  • Supportive assistance with food and beverage service to cocktail tables in lounge and terrace areas.
  • Daily setup and stocking of the bar area, including front and back bar and bar snack station. Regular lifting of trays with glasses, beer, liquor and wine cases and bottles and bar related items (up to 30 pounds) is required.  Setup of satellite bar areas pursuant to club events and activities.
  • Daily totaling of beverage charges to Point of Sale.
  • Closing out and labeling of daily beverage receipts with the day and date and handed in to the office staff.
  • Perform closing procedure at end of day including securing of the Clubhouse.
  • Using his/her expertise, the beverage manager will develop a continually changing (monthly) special seasonal drink list for the bar and be pro-active with industry trends in beverage service at private clubs and resorts.
  • The beverage manager will be responsible for ordering products for the beverage department and will work closely with the Chef and the Assistant Manager to procure new and existing products for the department, maintain proper inventory levels and inform management of any item needing attention with regards to bar equipment, inventory items, supplies and the like.  The beverage manager will actively participate in inventory maintenance and cost control in conjunction with the assistant manager.
  • When possible, the beverage manager shall assist in the expedition of food service occasionally as needed, by assisting the service staff when time permits. The beverage manager will always be alert to arriving members, anticipate the needs of the Membership and have the ability to continually improve the department and service standards to the Membership.
  • The beverage manager will be an integral part of a cohesive team to provide and support a continual effort to execute a unique-member experience consistent with our goals for a culture of friendly, assistive service and a pleasant relaxing atmosphere for members and their guests.  The successful candidate will be able to utilize his or her skills and creativity to provide and grow a continually engaging and evolving member experience in the department.  
  • The position may be expanded to provide further income possibilities in the off season as skillset and mutual agreement are realized.

 As a supervisor, the beverage manager will always strive to set a good example to maintain a consistent supportive working relationship with staff and high member satisfaction level with the department.

Candidate Qualifications

Energetic, creative individual who enjoys  delivering traditional private club hospitality in a uniquely cultured atmosphere utilizing a creative and well organized skillset of beverage menu creation and service. 

 

 

Educational Requirements

Completion of a structured beverage service program, T.I.P.S. certified,  minimum 3 years equivalent work experience or attainment of a hospitality management degree.
