The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain is a private, member-owned club nestled in the Green Mountains of Southern Vermont. The Club offers the congenial luxury of the only private ski resort-experience club in the East. We are a family-focused oasis of convenience showcasing our attention to nearly 200 acres of curated snow conditions and thoughtfully planned services, amenities and entertainment. Members enjoy zero lift lines with endless runs thanks to our heated 6-passenger high-speed lift serving ski trails for all ability levels and classic New England glades.

Apres ski traditions are just as important and range from down-to-earth to over-the-top in the extraordinarily appointed 90,000 square foot Lodge that is the Club's centerpiece. Features include a full-service spa and salon, fitness center and classes, indoor salt-water lap pool, private lockers, 50-seat movie theater, child care and youth activities, plus a well-stocked retail store and rental equipment for guests. Oh yes, and valet service for both your car and your skis!  

The companion Mid-Mountain Lodge is a favorite for ski-in lunch, and a special private dining experience for small groups who travel by snowcat in our ‘Catillac'. The Club is located in Wilmington, Vermont just a short drive from most major metropolitan areas. Boston 2.5 hrs | New York 4 hrs | Hartford 2 hrs

Fitness Center Warm up or cool down, or use our fully equipped fitness center to maintain a healthy lifestyle anytime of the year. Facilities and services include stretching, cardio, progressive resistance machines, a free weight room, saltwater lap pool and a dedicated Pilates room. Supportive and fun weekend classes include yoga and spinning in the Studio.

Dining Facilities

Eat And Drink Expect that a refined ski club is as much about the social experience IN the Lodge as ON the slopes. At each turn throughout the day you'll find something to delight from mountain-top waffles, some mid-day lunch celebration at the Mid Mountain Lodge, teas and treats at the First Chair Cafe, and Apres Ski your way from rockin' to relaxed at either the Trestle Bar or Hayloft Lounge. When the sun goes down special chef's dinners for small private groups at Mid Mountain or family events at the Lodge are on the menu. Theme weekends and live entertainment keep things hot inside, regardless of the winter weather outside.

Job Description

The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain, a premier private, member-owned ski resort in Vermont’s Green Mountains, is seeking a highly polished and service-driven Membership Director to lead the full member experience.

This is a unique opportunity for a hospitality professional who understands that exceptional service is personal, thoughtful, and anticipatory. The Membership Director will serve as a visible ambassador for the Club, guiding prospective members through the sales process while also overseeing the ongoing member experience in a concierge-style manner.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, creating seamless service experiences, leading a member-facing team, and helping members feel genuinely known, welcomed, and cared for.

About the Role

The Membership Director will oversee membership sales, prospect communication, new member onboarding, member engagement, service recovery, and day-to-day member support. This position will also supervise the Member Services Manager and help set the tone for a warm, responsive, and highly professional member service culture.

Working closely with Club leadership and departments including Food & Beverage, Events, Mountain Operations, Ski School, Retail, Spa, Finance, and Facilities, the Membership Director will ensure that member needs are anticipated, communicated, and followed through with care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full membership experience, from prospect inquiry through onboarding, engagement, and retention.
  • Manage the membership sales process, including prospect follow-up, tours, applications, referrals, and pipeline tracking.
  • Provide concierge-style support for members and their families, ensuring requests are handled promptly, professionally, and thoughtfully.
  • Supervise, coach, and support the Member Services Manager and member-facing service team.
  • Serve as a primary Club ambassador and trusted point of contact for members, guests, and prospective members.
  • Partner with departments across the Club to coordinate member needs, special requests, events, communications, and service expectations.
  • Lead new member onboarding and help members become connected to Club amenities, events, and services.
  • Track membership activity, prospect trends, member engagement, resignations, referrals, and service opportunities.
  • Support Member / Club Events, seasonal communications, and member engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism in all member-related matters.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a confident and gracious hospitality leader who is highly organized, emotionally intelligent, and energized by service. They will understand how to balance sales, relationship management, team leadership, and operational follow-through in a private club or luxury hospitality environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in private clubs, luxury hospitality, resorts, membership sales, concierge service, or member relations preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building, sales, communication, and service recovery skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and support a member-facing team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working with CRM, membership, or club management systems.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and peak seasonal periods as needed.
