For more than 73 years, our private, member-owned club has remained true to its founding purpose of bringing together those who value healthful recreation, meaningful social connections, and a welcoming place for members, their families, and guests.

Winter Park Racquet Club is home to one of Central Florida's premier racquet programs, featuring 8 Har-Tru clay tennis courts, 4 dedicated pickleball courts, and an accomplished team of nationally and internationally recognized teaching professionals. Our year-round programming includes leagues, clinics, junior development, tournaments, social events, and one of the country's premier professional exhibitions, creating an active and welcoming racquet community for players of all ages and abilities.

Our aquatics program features a Junior Olympic swimming pool and offers year-round opportunities for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Members enjoy competitive swim team, private swim lessons, lap swimming, open swim, and seasonal youth programming in a safe, family-oriented environment. Our dedicated aquatics team is committed to providing exceptional instruction while fostering confidence, fitness, and a lifelong love of swimming

Staff Accountant

Job Description

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant supports the Finance department through accurate member accounting, accounts receivable and payable processing, month-end activities, audit support, and financial reporting. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role offers hands-on experience across the Club's accounting operations and opportunities for continued professional growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute monthly member statements, process member payments, and reconcile accounts receivable balances accurately and on schedule.
  • Respond professionally to member billing and payment inquiries; monitor outstanding balances; and process approved credit memos and account adjustments.
  • Establish and maintain vendor records in Bill.com, including required Forms W-9 and certificates of insurance; process accounts payable invoices; and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Assist with annual Form 1099 preparation, audit schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare recurring journal entries and assigned account reconciliations, and assist with month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Maintain complete, organized, and accessible electronic accounting records.
  • Assist with budgeting, special projects, and accounting-process improvements.
  • Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

Compliance & Confidentiality

  • Protect confidential member, employee, vendor, banking, and financial information at all times.
  • Follow established accounting procedures, internal controls, approval requirements, record-retention practices, and Club policies.
  • Promptly report discrepancies, suspected fraud, data-security concerns, or internal-control issues to the Director of Finance.

Candidate Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or active enrollment in an accounting degree program.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, accuracy, time management, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional member-service approach.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Eagerness to learn month-end close procedures and develop technical accounting skills.
  • Successful completion of required background screening and drug testing, and successful completion of assigned abuse-prevention training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Up to two years of accounting experience; relevant internship experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Bill.com, member-accounting systems, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or private-club accounting.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or active enrollment in an accounting degree program.
