Golf Facilities

18 hole course, par 64, designed by Ted Robinson

Sunrise Country Club’s 18-hole executive plus course was designed by renowned golf course architect Ted Robinson in 1974, and regarded as one of the finest in the area. It is an ideal golf course for the seasoned golfer looking to be challenged, as well as those just taking up the game. While enjoying a round of golf, you can also enjoy breathtaking views of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains. The course is a challenging par 64 of just under 4000 yards that can be comfortably played in less than three-and-a-half hours.

Sunrise Country Club has been known for its excellent tennis facilities and outstanding tennis program since its inception. Nine hard courts are expertly maintained to provide a great competitive play environment in a dramatic setting. Sunrise Country Club offers a variety of membership categories for residents, renters, and nonresidents to join our Sunrise pickleball family. Join an “open-play” day during which every player who comes out to play will rotate in and ou,t allowing everyone to participate in many games. Guests play “free” on their first visit, so bring your own paddle, or use one of the club’s loaners, and join in the fun. Pickleball, perfect for all ages, is the talk of the town and once you try it you might just get hooked yourself. Two beautiful regulation courts and social area offer a great activity for members. Bocce is an amenity for all equity members of Sunrise Country Club. Non-equity members have the option to purchase an "add-on" membership for bocce ball. The Sunrise Bocce Association organizes Team Play and Tournament events. Open play is also available. With over 200 association members, Bocce is proving to be a booming social activity.

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Membership Director to lead membership sales and retention. Golf membership is capped at 350 members and court sports membership at 250. The Membership Director will work to fill both categories and then manage a waitlist for each.

The Membership Director is often a prospective member's first contact with the club. The position also oversees the club website, social media, newsletter and marketing materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sell new golf, court sports, social and short-term memberships, and upgrades to golf
Give club tours, answer membership inquiries and process applications
Track prospects and follow up consistently
Run new member orientation and stay in touch with new members through their first year
Manage the membership waitlist and deposits once a category is full
Keep membership records in Jonas and prepare reports on membership, dues and fees for the General Manager, Board and committees
Update the club website and social media, and edit the newsletter
Design event flyers, mailings and membership packets, and market non-resident memberships
Support the House/Social Committee with club and HOA events, and host monthly bingo

Candidate Qualifications

Three or more years of experience in sales, membership or hospitality; private club experience preferred
A record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Experience with website and social media updates
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Jonas Club Software experience a plus
Organized, self-motivated and comfortable managing several priorities at once

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or GED; two years of college or equivalent experience preferred

Other Benefits

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Base salary of $80,000 – $85,000, depending on experience, plus commission and bonuses on new members the Membership Director signs. Commission is a percentage of the new member's first-year dues:

Golf: 8%, increasing to 10% after the first 30 golf memberships sold each season
Court sports and social: 10%
Short-term memberships: 5% of the fee

Part of each commission is paid when the member renews for a second year. Additional bonuses are available for member renewals, reaching the golf and court sports caps, and building the waitlist. Full details are provided in the club's written compensation plan.
