Special Club Features

Beach Point Club is a private club in Westchester County, New York (approximately 30 minutes north of New York City). Beach Point has several indoor and outdoor dining facilities; a marina to accommodate those members with yachting interests; tennis and paddle tennis courts; pool facilities and bar; full bathhouse and locker facilities; and a beach area. The Club operates several summer programs ranging from tennis lessons to swimming and sailing lessons, a junior sailing program, and a large summer day camp. Beach Point Club is a Top Ten Platinum Yacht Club of America. 

Club is open 7 days per week, 11 months per year.

Brief Job Description

Daily or weekly rotations through the following:
• Pavilion - assisting in supervising, scheduling, purchasing and receiving in
a high-volume, outdoor waterfront food and beverage operation.
• Beach Bar - learning to tend bar and assisting in service of drinks.
• Switchboard - answering calls, placing calls and providing information.
• Main Bar - assisting through peak periods of usage.
• Publishing Office - working with publicity and membership mailings.
• Administrative Office - assisting with administrative duties.
• Kitchen/Main Dining Room - assisting, observing and filling in where needed.
Brief exposure will also be given to the following areas: housekeeping, laundry, grounds, maintenance, accounting, fitness, tennis, waterfront, children activities and the marina.

This program is designed to provide a student with a comprehensive overview and exposure to the Club Management Industry. All the skills taught will be beneficial to students entering this profession or any other area of the hospitality industry.
A complete overview of the industry, as well as the history and a tour of Beach Point, will be given by the management team upon arrival.
The Assistant Manager, in conjunction with Department Supervisors, will orient and train the interns in each specific area of responsibility. The heaviest volume of the summer season falls in July and August, thus interns will be thoroughly trained by that period. The Assistant Manager and the Department Supervisors will assist the General Manager in the supervision of the interns.
Interns will meet weekly with the General Manager, the Clubhouse Manager and Assistant Managers for team building activities and to evaluate the previous week and will be encouraged to contribute ideas and offer suggestions.

Candidate Qualifications

Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management or Golf Enterprise Management majors preferred, but any major will be considered providing the student has interest in hospitality.
