Retail Merchandise Manager

Brief Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Retail Merchandise Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for the direction of the golf retail efforts and maintaining the highest standard of quality in a high volume, AGM Platinum Award-winning merchandise operation.  

The successful candidate must be familiar with Golf Operations and should have the following attributes: 

  • A can-do attitude and exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Great time management technique and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting 
  • Artistic eye for creating a visually excellent shopping experience 
  • Outgoing and friendly with strong interpersonal skills 
  • Comprehensive retail math foundation and data understanding 
  • Management fluency and capability to thrive in a team environment 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Determines an open-to-buy plan consistent with sales goals 
  • Plans an effective merchandise mix through research and trend forecasting 
  • Evaluates on-order log and makes necessary adjustments to maintain inventory levels  
  • Ensures the floor is conducive to a “shoppable” experience and is maintained properly 
  • Creates top-tier merchandise displays and rotates them appropriately 
  • Contributes to daily floor sales through customer relations 
  • Plans, promotes, and markets retail events 
  • Creates marketing materials to advocate for merchandise offerings 
  • Assists in yearly retail budgeting in conjunction with Director of Golf 
  • Analyzes financial statements for profitability ratios 
  • Provides monthly variance reports as needed or requested 
  • Executes procedures for merchandise flow, receiving, pricing, and invoice processing 
  • Establishes, monitors, and coordinates return to vendor procedures 
  • Conducts monthly physical inventories with team assistance 
  • Evaluates stock levels regularly and initiates markdowns as needed 
  • Implements training programs to increase staff knowledge and customer service 
  • Ownership of the special-order program 

 

Other Duties:  

  • Develops and maintains relationships/rapport with members and team 
  • Answers phones, understands the golf operation, and assists with all customer needs and requests 
  • Maintains excellent partnerships with vendors 

Candidate Qualifications

  1. Minimum of three (3) years management experience 
  2. Minimum of five (5) years in retail operations 
  3. Minimum of five (5) years of buying and managing merchandise 
  4. Exceptional communication and customer service skills 
  5. Attention to detail and analytical technique ideal  
  6. Familiarity with Jonas Point-of-Sales software desired 
  7. Previous experience with Golf Genius Golf Shop preferred 
  8. Varied schedule including weekends and holidays required
