Recognized as one of the most unique golf experiences in the country, Kinloch features an outstanding Lester George and Vinny Giles parkland style 18-hole layout, a knowledgeable and experienced caddie staff, along with comfortable and well-appointed cottages for overnight accommodations. The three principals embraced the idea of establishing a world-class private golf experience. Kinloch is intended first and foremost to be a first-class golf club emphasizing immaculate conditioning, a simple but special clubhouse facility, a small and compatible membership of individual members, a championship golf course, and practice facility with service of the highest quality.

Special Club Features

Kinloch Golf Club is widely recognized as one of the most unique golf experiences in the country. The Club sits on 255 acres and provides members and guests a premier golf experience with world-class course conditions and a staff committed to exemplary services offered in a genuine and comfortable atmosphere. The Kinloch Experience is the best of southern hospitality. Located just outside of Richmond, the Club is close to Charlottesville and only two hours from Washington, DC. The cost of living is very attractive.

Kinloch Golf Club features an outstanding Lester George and Vinny Giles parkland 18-hole layout, a 23,000 square-foot clubhouse, knowledgeable and experienced caddie staff, along with comfortable and well-appointed cottages for overnight accommodations. 

The tudor-style clubhouse opened for service in the fall of 2002, featuring comfortable amenities along with the traditional appeal and architecture of the Scottish namesake. As the National membership base grew, the initial overnight cottage accommodation was opened in 2005. Instantly becoming an attractive location for members and guests to enjoy accommodations on the grounds of the club, the demand for cottage reservations spawned two additional structures. Commitment and dedication to the traditions of the game, holding steadfast to the mission statement of world-class golf course conditions and quality and comfortable service, have established Kinloch Golf Club as one of the finest private clubs in the region and beyond.

Brief Job Description

The Club is looking for a professional who understands a quality club culinary program; pays attention to the business aspects of running a $1.5M food and beverage operation while developing a culinary team that will make an immediate impact. The candidate will be a working Executive Chef in a unique, personalized hotel environment club.  Kinloch's management team needs a partner in the kitchen to help create excitement in the culinary program and menus, someone who sees the big picture while focusing on the members as individuals. The Executive Chef will always look for improvement while continuing to maintain the high standards of excellence already instilled into the kitchen operation. The ideal candidate will possess a true passion for professional cooking and have a proven and stable track record of culinary excellence.

Initial Priorities:

  • Create membership excitement and “buzz.”
  • Earning respect and building morale in the Kitchen, making professionalism the primary objective with the culinary team.
  • Nail down the consistency of food products.
  • Work on developing signature menu items for Kinloch, items that people in the golf world will say, "Did you get a chance to try the ________ at Kinloch?

Goals: The food service at Kinloch has been considered to be just good for many years.  Management's goal is to hire an Executive Chef who is professional and is an excellent leader who can continue to develop his/her staff into a high-functioning, passionate culinary team. Kinloch 's membership is an extremely golf-centered membership; the goal is for the chef to elevate the culinary program to rival the golf activity.

This position has times of low volume.  These periods are excellent to create plans for the personalized service we expect to deliver to our members and to train the kitchen team. 

Candidate Qualifications

Culinary or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Culinary training/certification is required.
A minimum of 2- 4 years in a similar position in an intimate club setting, boutique hotel, or upscale personal dining venue is preferred. 
Must have strong creative and innovative skills, must be fluent with food and cost control measures. Organized, good leadership skills, sound knowledge in catering.

Technical Skills:
Knowledge of culinary, stewarding, storeroom control, and food purchasing operational procedures.
Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the food service department.
Good presentation and training/facilitation skills.
Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems.
Knowledge of safety standards.

Functional Skills:
Effective decision-making skills.
Excellent cooking skills,
Experience in all cooking stations
Strong prep experience

Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to acquire and maintain relationships i.e. colleagues, members and vendors.
Good communication skills (verbal, listening, writing).
