Golf Facilities

18 hole course, par 71, designed by George Cobb

Green Island Country Club was the host club for the PGA Southern Open Tournment from 1970-1991.

Tennis Facilities

8 outdoor lighted Har-Tru courts

Active tennis membership with over 400 participants in all ages with an equally active team tennis program. 5 lighted pickle ball courts.

Pool complex consist of 150,000 gallon salt water pool with kiddie pool, lounge deck, snack shack house and lockers.

Two full service dining rooms, including a casual family room and a steakhouse room. In addition to member dining, the club has a large ballroom capable of serving over 400 people, as well as four private dining/meeting rooms that range in size from 8 to 90 people in capacity.

Special Club Features

Established in 1961 in the rolling hills along the banks of Lake Oliver, Green Island Country Club (GICC) is a very prestigious member owned family oriented private club in Columbus, Georgia approximately an hour southwest of Atlanta.

Columbus is a traditional southern city with a population of 188,000 that is home to the corporate headquaters of such established and award winning businesses as AFLAC, TSYS and Carmike Cinemas.

GICC recently celebrated it's 50th Anniversary with the publication of a beautiful commerative history book as well as monthly special events in 2011.

GICC has 860 family memberships which enjoy a 49,000 square foot clubhouse on 132 acres of land.

Club is open 6 days per week, 12 months per year.

Intern-Rotational

Brief Job Description

Green Island Country Club is seeking 1-3 rotational interns. A rotational intern will move through all areas of the club learning each different facet of the operation. Time will be spent in F&B-both front and back of the house, Golf - events, merchandising, Agronomy, Tennis, Membership, HR, Catering, Communications and Accounting. This internship may be completed during any part of a year, it does not have to be during the Summer.

Candidate Qualifications

Preferably a Junior or Senior on a path to a Hospitality degree looking to work in multiple aresa and learn the realities of working in a country club.
