The main campus in Columbia has a student population of approximately 35,000, is categorized by the Carnegie Foundation as having "very high research activity" and excellent curricular community engagement. Housed in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management (HRSM), the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management consists of over 20 faculty, many of whom are top-rated scholars in their specific fields, editors or review board members of top tier academic journals, and in leading discipline-focused associations. The School offers a BS degree in Hospitality Management, a BS in Tourism Management, a Master’s degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management, a Ph.D. in Hospitality Management, and is consistently ranked in the top ten in the U.S. as a leader in hospitality and tourism management programs.
There are four research centers housed within the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management:
International Tourism Research Institute

Richardson Family SmartState Center of Economic Excellence in Tourism and Economic Development
The School is home to the Marriott Foundation Culinary Laboratory and the McCutchen House, which are both outstanding learning labs for students.
