Special Club Features

Forest Lake Country Club, founded in 1926, was created on 125 of the most scenic acres in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Its crown jewel, the mature 18-hole golf course, redesigned by the world renowned golf course architect, Arthur Hills, provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities.  Known for its signature small, well-protected greens and naturally contoured fairways, golfers experience an ambiance of serenity and tranquility in the company of friends while enjoying the essence of the sport the way it was meant to be played.

In addition to its golf masterpiece, FLCC features a newly renovated Clubhouse with extensive meeting and banquet facilities, staffed locker rooms, a pro shop offering the latest tennis and golf apparel and equipment, a 3,000 square foot fully equipped fitness center, a state of the art swimming pool and tennis courts overlooking Forest Lake, a volleyball court and a children’s playground. Members of all ages enjoy the outstanding instructional and competitive programs along with numerous social events throughout the year.

Golf

During the 1920's, Col. Edwin S. George was a wealthy industrialist, philanthropist, and a golf fanatic. To him, the woods and rolling hills along Forest Lake possessed as much natural beauty as he had ever seen.  He soon enlisted the services of William Diddel - named on the "ten-best-yet-least-known" golf course designers of all time by Golf Digest - to lay out 18 holes. Later, Arthur Hills, world-famous golf course architect, redesigned several holes.

Eighty years after its original configuration, golfers still marvel at how the Forest Lake course follows the natural contours of the land and has stood the test of time as one of Michigan’s finest courses. The course still reflects the same spirit and original features with signature undulating, well-protected greens and naturally contoured fairways. The entire course has an ambiance of serenity and tranquility that lets you concentrate on your game, enjoy the company of friends and experience the essence of the sport the way it was meant to be played.

Golf is a family affair with many activities for the male, female, husband-wife, mixed events and a strong program for junior golfers.

Merchandising Program

We participate in ‘The Mill River Program,’ named after the first club to implement such a plan. The Mill River program at the Golf Shop provides excellent discounts on merchandise that is stocked and special ordered. This program allows Members and their Guests to purchase items at approximately 16%- 18% over the Club’s cost.

Tennis Program

Members enjoy tennis on our two clay or two asphalt courts for fun and exercise.   Our Members take instructions from our tennis professionals. Forest Lake offers various programs such as: Couples Troubles Doubles, Ladies Clinics, Junior Clinics, Parent-Child Tournament, Ladies Invitational, Private Instruction, Junior Travel Team and much more.

Pool and Swim Program

At Forest Lake we strive to provide a rewarding and enjoyable athletic experience in which our children have an opportunity for success. We encourage an atmosphere of an overall team concept. This includes older swimmers mentoring new swimmers and parents who support and encourage the development and triumphs of each swimmer. Our goal is for every child to be successful while having fun and making friendships.

Fitness

Our Members are inspired to work out daily because of the view afforded by the tall glass windows of our fitness center, including the lush green of the golf course to the east and the broad expanse of Forest Lake to the west. The 3,000 square-foot fully equipped center is open almost every day at 6 a.m. throughout the year with a full complement of equipment for either aerobic or anaerobic training.  A key fob system for 24 hour access is also available for our Members.

Our Food and Beverage operation is open approximately 9 - 10 months per year.

Club is open 5 days per week, 11 months per year.
