3,000 sq. ft. temporary structure that hosts all A la Carte lunch and dinner options. Along with all club events are held in the 1918 Pavilion. Shacks on the course and by the pool also provide limited menus.

Special Club Features

Oakland Hills Country Club is one of America’s preeminent country clubs. The private club, founded in 1916, is home to two acclaimed 18-hole golf courses designed by Donald Ross. The storied South Course has played host to numerous Major Championships including the U.S. Open, Ryder Cup, PGA Championship, and Western Open. In the coming decades, it will welcome two additional U.S. Opens, two U.S. Womens Opens and four USGA Amateur Events.

Our distinguished membership, one of the largest in the Great Lakes region, enjoys a broad range of engaging social activities and recreational programs that promote friendship and create lifelong memories for our member families.

Oakland Hills is amidst one of the most critical points of the Club's history as it embarks on a multiyear clubhouse construction project following the fire of February 2022. Along with the clubhouse, we are building on a foundation of delivering consistent, high-quality services and amenities for a world-class experience throughout the Club.

Food & Beverage Manager

Brief Job Description

Position Summary:            

This person manages food and beverage services for the Club.  Manages beverage purchasing, Pavilion inventory, and Jonas/Accubar for food/beverage service. Ensures quality and consistency for all food and beverage services, including staff training and SOP’s.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Event Coordinator to ensure set up and execution of all club events are to member satisfaction.
  • Stays up to date on Food and Beverage trends and institute appropriate items or programs that may improve the member satisfaction at the Club.
  • Greets guests and oversee actual service on a routine/random basis, and maintain consistent floor management, visibility and member contact.
  • Sets up regular education with staff to maintain and improve skill set and assist in training/coaching of service staff in adherence to the Club service standards.
  • Ensures monthly liquor inventory is done consistently and in a timely manner in conjunction with the head bartender. Controls cost and inventory levels dependent on the needs of the Club. Maintains wine cellars and wine storage rooms.
  • Ensures an inventory of dining room items is maintained and updated. Storage rooms are efficiently laid out and maintained.
  • Works with the kitchen to maintain menus and make sure Jonas is up to date. This includes all menu updates and system audits, including Accubar.
  • Helps plan external and internal marketing and sales promotion activities for the Food and Beverage operations. Encourages member participation in events and activities to increase participation.
  • Maintains and grows the wine to go program, as well as other wine events throughout the season.
  • Works closely with the Director of Club Operations on managing department budget effectively.
  • Manages FOH labor budget effectively.
  • Supervises staff for excellence according to best management practice and in coordination with HR, including scheduling, training and evaluating staff effectively, and ensuring SOP's are followed.
  • Ensures closing procedures are properly executed each night.

Candidate Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management (or related business degree) preferred, some college or formal education required
  • Minimum 3 years related experience, preferably in an upscale environment
  • Certified in TIPS and ServSafe
  • Preferred experience with Jonas and Accubar, or similar system
  • Demonstrated effective supervisory and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen
  • Able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, which includes, but is not limited to:  bending, stooping, standing and walking for long periods, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
