In the words of the great Bobby Jones, Montclair is “the longest short course I ever played.” It is one of the few Clubs anywhere that can claim to have hosted both the Men’s and Women’s U.S. Amateur Championships. The Montclair property includes four nine-hole layouts, each beginning and ending at the Clubhouse.

Founded in 1893, Montclair Golf Club has always been a prominent and vital player in the New Jersey private club.

We are an inclusive, diverse club serving more than  800 families.  Family and community are central to our culture.  

We are a strong and growing club.  In the past few years, we have invested $20 million in our aquatics facilities, courses, courts and clubhouse. 

Our dining and events programs are among the finest in the region.  We are the venue of choice for golf and racquet events, weddings, mitzvahs, and a variety of innovative Member parties.

Manager, Men's Locker Room

Brief Job Description

Position Overview: The Men's Locker Room includes a full-service bar, with breakfast served on the weekends.  It is an important amenity and features prominently in the overall golf experience for the men of MGC. The Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the club’s Locker Rooms, creating an inviting environment for our members. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage a team, provide exceptional customer service, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of locker room attendants and staff.  Manage the Ladies’ Locker Room team.
  • Ensure the locker rooms are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Greet members and provide assistance as needed, ensuring a personalized and exceptional experience.
  • Manage inventory of locker room supplies and amenities, ensuring they are fully stocked and available.
  • Handle member inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally.
  • Implement and enforce club policies and procedures within the locker room.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with other club departments to facilitate seamless service delivery.
  • Train and develop locker room team to uphold the club’s standards of service.
  • Operate the Bar and Lounge areas as comfortable and relaxing venues to enjoy before and after golf.
  • Address any maintenance or repair issues promptly, coordinating with the maintenance team as needed.
  • Prepare and manage the locker room budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a luxury or exclusive environment, preferably in a private club, spa, or hotel.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in basic POS computer applications.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • TIPS Certification
  • Budgeting and P&L skills.
