Our menu offerings cover the traditional Member favorites with a view to modern American presentations and preferences. Our extensive carefully curated wine list and our continually changing menu reflecting local fresh ingredients, are a vital part of our experience, equal only to our friendly professional service delivery. .

The Century Club of Syracuse is the region’s preeminent private dining club serving the personal and professional dining and entertaining needs of its 440 resident members.  The Club is renowned for its excellent cuisine, served in its beautifully appointed Clubhouse. 

The Century Club of Syracuse is searching for its next Executive Chef who will bring hands-on creative culinary talents, possess excellent interpersonal skills in interacting with both Club membership and staff, and have a commitment to manage food service costs without compromising on quality. 

Candidate Qualifications

Culinary skills:

  • Proven creative culinary talent with knowledge of, and interest in, contemporary cuisine trends
  • Proven culinary management experience with commitment to preparing meals from scratch using freshest ingredients.
  • Experience in both Banquet and A La Carte food production
  • Proven experience in developing creative menus with wide range of price points, for both regular food service as well as for members’ special occasions.
  • Commitment to resourceful and artistic food presentation.
  • Overall responsibility for all A La Carte meals served, club sponsored functions and private member events.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary workplace.
  • Prepare standardized menus, costings and presentation SOP’s

Management skills

  • Ability and commitment to control costs through planning and competitive purchasing.
  • Act as a business- minded role model setting new standards for employee performance and operational efficiencies
  • Display financial acumen in forecasting food revenues, costs, labor costs
  • Understanding of the unique nature of club food service.
  • Ability to work within a budget to achieve specific gross margin targets.

Interpersonal skills

  • Confident presence and a passion to achieve the highest standards of food excellence, consistently exceeding member expectations.
  • Ability to motivate, lead, develop and train a kitchen staff.
  • Work with Club management team to assure consistent and excellent dining experience for members.
  • Ability to communicate with members and to plan private events.
  • Create a presence in the dining areas, interacting with Members and guests
  • Work with Board of Governors and its committees to plan membership events.

Educational Requirements

The Club desires a seasoned professional with 5 or more years’ experience in a fine dining establishment, who is seeking a long-term position in a very attractive club environment.

  1. Associates degree in Culinary Arts or appropriate training and experience desired.
  2. NRA Servesafe food safety certification. 
  3. Commitment to continuing professional development.
  4. ACF or other professional association membership and involvement

Competitive salary and benefits package depending upon experience.

Hours:  Hours per week are dependent on seasonal events as well as Club functions and private parties.  In season time commitment is extensive.  Summer work load is reduced from the rest of the year.  Club operates Monday through Saturday from September 1 to May 31 and Monday through Friday from June 1 to August 31. The Club closes down for the first two weeks of July each year.
