Cedarbrook Country Club in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, is a family-oriented facility striving to provide a total recreational and social experience, with an emphasis on golf.

Our championship golf course, situated on more than 225 acres of rolling terrain and woodlands, measures over 7,000 yards and features nine possible tee combinations. The Wissahickon Creek meanders throughout the course, and along with lakes, ponds, and abundant wildlife, the expansive greens, bunkers, and two large practice areas offer a golf setting appreciated and loved by our dynamic and diverse membership.

An Olympic-sized pool, children's pool, snack bar, six tennis courts, four new pickleball courts with lighting for nighttime play, and three bocce courts, support vibrant swimming and racquets programs for both adults and children to complete the ideal family experience.

A sense of family and camaraderie is the cornerstone of membership at Cedarbrook Country Club. Professionals with young families, singles, and seniors alike join in creating a unique atmosphere of fellowship. Under the leadership of General Manager, William R. “Bill” Beisel, Jr., our attentive and highly trained professional staff strives to make the member experience enjoyable and memorable.

Membership Director

Brief Job Description

The Membership Director role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys building relationships, and is passionate about driving growth and engagement. It is a key Position and meets monthly with the Board of Governors. This person is expected to provide and understand data and market conditions to advise the General Manager and the Board.

Cedarbrook’s Membership Director reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for all sales, marketing, public relations, communications, administrative and member service activities related to maintaining and growing the club’s membership population.

The Membership Director must display a wide range of skill sets including strong written and verbal skills, organizational skills, and creativity.  As a key staff member and “face” of the club to many members, the Membership Director is responsible for member morale and ensuring members are ingratiated into the membership population.

Membership Sales:

The Membership Director is the primary point of contact for all prospective members. 
Sales-related duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Meeting with prospective members, providing tours, answering questions.
  • Playing a round of golf with prospective members.
  • Developing and implementing the membership orientation process.
  • Engaging in all sales follow-up activities required to convert the prospective member to an active, dues-paying club member.
  • Overseeing the membership renewal process.

In addition to new sales, a primary responsibility is to manage member attrition campaigns including any requested changes in member status, referrals and the promotion and implementation of any new programs.

Marketing:

The Membership Director helps organize all marketing-related activities to attract prospective members to the club. These activities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Setting and developing the club’s overall marketing strategy.
  • Maintaining and updating the club’s website.
  • Organizing and attending industry trade shows.
  • Implementing direct mail, advertising, e-marketing and other
    lead-generating campaigns.
  • Developing and maintaining all sales collateral.

Public Relations:

The Membership Director helps organize the member event calendar and participates in various golf and social activities throughout the year. Duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Working with other staff members to develop the annual event calendar.
  • Attending and directing various social events and activities.
  • Engaging in various golf-related events and activities, such as participating in club golf tournaments, kick-off parties and closing social events.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for all media-related events and activities.
  • Developing and managing the club’s Ambassador Program by identifying key club members and engaging them in various out-reach activities and other sales-related programs.
  • Maintaining relationships with area clubs.

Communications:

The Membership Director is responsible for communicating all club business to the membership population. Duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Maintaining and updating the Member’s-Only section of the club’s website.
  • Engaging in e-communications for club news, events, and other pertinent information to the membership.
  • Posting flyers and other news and event-related information throughout the clubhouse.

Customer Service:

The Membership Director serves as a main point of contact to troubleshoot and solve member-related issues and/or problems.

  • Handling all duties related to membership changes/upgrades/downgrades/freezes.
  • Assisting accounting with billing inquiries and problems.
  • Handling member complaints and other issues.

Administrative:

The Membership Director engages in and/or directs all administrative functions as it relates to member-related activities. Duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Possessing a proven record of strong organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and written) skills to achieve maximum sales and outstanding member experience.
  • Assisting accounting with A/R functions.
  • Running/analyzing membership reports.
  • Keep the Membership Documents current, correlate and safeguard all membership-related materials.
    • Organizing and maintaining network files of all member-related documentation.
  • Maintaining and updating membership files.
  • Processing new membership applications.
  • Managing member’s resignation process.
  • Maintaining database of current and prospective members.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, design software, databases, and other basic computer skills.
  • Experience with CRM and a working knowledge of social media platforms is desirable.

Candidate Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred, with a focus on Hospitality Management.
  • Substantial private club or hospitality experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Industry certifications such as CCM, CCE, CMC, or PGA are encouraged but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a private club setting.
