Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced person for the role of General Manager of a Yacht Club.The Ideal candidate will have experience working in a club environment, with an understanding of the hospitality industry. An understanding of billing and minor accounting experience is required. The General Manager will be responsible for managing the club property, coordinating with vendor, and maintaining operational efficiency. 

The General Manager will take a personal role in activities at the Yacht Club, including attending regular club dinners to see that the members are well served as well as mingle with the member to address issues and support the good will of the club. During the boating season, weekends and some nights will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages club vendors.
  • Manages the Bar staff.
  • Maintain the Bar inventory.
  • Manage the club software.
  • Perform general minor bookkeeping of club expenses.
  • Daily receipt reconciliation and to make bank deposits as needed.
  • Work with the club accountant on all financial issues.
  • Assists in the management of the Dock as needed.
  • Responsible for the building and grounds maintenance. 
  • The General Manager is the Permittee of the club Liquor License.

Skills

  • Experience managing a small club with a kitchen, bar, gas dock and facilities.
  • Budgeting skills with the ability to manage daily receipts and minor bookkeeping familiarity.
  • Background in either Hospitality or other related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Able to manage a small team of employees.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively and in a positive manner with Club members and guests. 

Candidate Qualifications

  • Experience in the hospitality industry
  • Ability to obtain a permit for the Club
  • Proven background in club management
  • Expertise in overseeing all operations of the Club Bar
  • Basic experience in accounting
  • Strong vendor relationship management

Educational Requirements

  • College degree preferred (Accounting or Management major is a plus)
