Director of Tennis
Job Description
The Ausable Club is seeking a dynamic and accomplished tennis professional to organize and direct all club tennis activities, events, exhibitions, tournaments and lessons to a long-established club. Candidates must have strong teaching/instructional skills, high level management experience and visible leadership background. The Club’s Director of Tennis must be experienced in the oversight, directing, and participating in the daily maintenance and operations of tennis courts and playing surfaces to deliver an exceptional tennis experience to the membership. The Director of Tennis must possess organizational and time management skills as this position has a variety of traditional and non-traditional responsibilities. Finally the position requires excellent interpersonal skills to deal with the membership and staff of the Club.
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be of high integrity, excel at collaboration, operate with a strong team spirit, and possess the ability to manage effectively. Experience in the private club industry is a significant plus. This is a summer seasonal position that oversees the tennis program functions of the club and comes with seasonal housing and excellent quality of life. This team member will report directly to the General Manager.
Educational Requirements
DIRECTOR OF TENNIS SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have a career path marked with stability and progression of title andresponsibility while showing ongoing professional development, as well as career path markedwith verifiable accomplishment as a team builder and leader.
REQUIREMENTS
▪
Undergraduate major in Physical Education or Sports Management desirable.
▪
Collegiate team experience desirable, preferably with a 5.0 or above rating.
▪
A minimum of five years’ experience as a Club Head Pro or First Assistant.
▪
Two-to-three-year competitive playing experience and/or tennis supervisory experience.
▪
Experience running junior development programs.
▪
Knowledge of court maintenance.
▪
Demonstrated experience in retail sales of sporting goods.
▪
USPTA membership is preferred but not required. Candidates must be innovative and bringknowledge of industry best practices to the Club.
▪
Impeccable and verifiable references; all candidates will be subject to a background review.
▪
The ability to work “hands on” with other staff and managers, and to mentor, train and lead.
▪
Interaction with the membership is both expected and strongly encouraged.
▪
Outstanding communication skills are required as is a strong moral character.

The salary for the Club’ Director of Tennis is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Compensation includes: weekly salary (10-week season), lessons, clinics, merchandise sales.
