This is a tremendous opportunity for a highly driven, capable, and motivated individual for frontline experience at one of the top ranked clubs in the nation. This internship will provide frontline experience in the food and beverage department while being exposed to cross-departmental involvement. Interns will recieve training and experience in a la carte service, banquet service, and rotate through the various front of house roles in the expansive food and beverage operation.

Director of Racquet Sports
Job Description
The Director of Racquet Sports (DOR) will serve as a key senior staff member, leading a best-in-class racquets program that aligns with the values, traditions, and high standards of Colleton River Club. The DOR is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the racquets facilities and programs, providing strong leadership and management of teaching professionals and support staff.
In addition to exceptional leadership and team-building skills, the DOR will focus on fostering competitive, social, and family-friendly activities for players of all levels in tennis and pickleball. The DOR will be responsible for designing, supervising, directing, and implementing a dynamic calendar of racquet programs, including (but not limited to):
- Men’s & Women’s Programs
- Club Tournaments & Special Events
- Social & Twilight Events
Beyond delivering exceptional member service and cultivating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere, the DOR will play a critical role in managing program participation and financial performance in alignment with the club’s annual operating budget.

Candidate Qualifications
Program Development & Member Engagement
- Design and implement a comprehensive, year-round racquet sports program inclusive of private instruction, clinics, camps, leagues, social mixers, and tournaments.
- Ensure offerings are inclusive, engaging, and tailored to a wide range of age groups and skill levels—from beginners to competitive players.
- Stay ahead of trends in racquet sports and regularly introduce new initiatives to keep the program fresh and member-centric.
- Evaluate program success through participation metrics, feedback surveys, and direct member engagement.
Instruction & Player Development
- Provide exceptional, hands-on instruction in both tennis and pickleball with a focus on personalized development and sportsmanship.
- Lead and mentor a team of teaching professionals and support staff to ensure consistent instructional quality and service excellence.
- Organize and facilitate workshops and continuing education for instructional staff to maintain professional development.
Facility Oversight & Presentation
- Oversee daily operations and long-term maintenance of the tennis and pickleball courts, associated facilities, and related equipment.
- Partner with the facilities and maintenance teams to uphold premier standards of cleanliness, safety, and aesthetics.
- Recommend and oversee capital improvements, equipment upgrades, and seasonal readiness initiatives.
Event Curation & Execution
- Create and execute a vibrant calendar of member-focused events—from themed tournaments and charity fundraisers to holiday socials and interclub play.
- Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing teams to ensure high visibility, pre-event excitement, and post-event engagement.
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and festive atmosphere that encourages member participation and camaraderie.
Member Service & Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between the racquet sports department and club members, delivering responsive, proactive service.
- Actively engage with members to build rapport, understand preferences, and personalize the racquet sports experience.
- Communicate clearly and consistently through club channels, including newsletters, app notifications, and event briefings.
Budgeting & Financial Stewardship
- Develop, manage, and report on the annual racquet sports operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor financial performance, identify efficiencies, and ensure alignment with club financial goals.
- Handle member billing for instruction and programming; oversee payroll for racquet sports staff.
Educational Requirements
Qualifications & Attributes
- RSPA and/or PTR certification required; PPR certification preferred for pickleball instruction.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a private club, resort, or high-performance racquet sports setting.
- Demonstrated success in building and growing racquet sports programs and events.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a passion for hospitality and community engagement.
- Financial literacy, including experience in budgeting, forecasting, and staff payroll.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adept at member-facing service and internal collaboration.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as club programming demands.
