The Wannamoisett Country Club is a private golf course located in Rumford, Rhode Island. The course was designed by Donald Ross in 1914, played host to the 1931 PGA Championship and hosts the prestigious Northeast Amateur (NEA) every year. There are also many social opportunities that include the swimming pool, tennis courts and dining services. The atmosphere at Wannamoisett fosters a feeling of camaraderie with our members - both old and new - and their families.

Our golf course us currently rated #2 in RI and #164 in the US by Golf Digest.  A $2.7m Andrew Green led revovation of the golf course was completed in 2022.  Phase 1 of our long term pool plan was completed in 2025.

Wannamoisett is commited to providing a great membership experience.  This is achieved through our meticulously maintained golf course, our renovated pool facilities, our well maintained tennis courts and our excellent dining experience.

General Manager

Job Description

The General Manager will supervise and direct the following: all food operations; club social functions; all clubhouse personnel; maintenance and security matters relative to the main clubhouse building, swimming pool, bathouse and snack bar; the refreshment facility on the 12th hole and the golf pro shop building.  Please note that management of the pro shop and its personnel and the golf course and the greens staff are not part if the responsibilites of this job.

The General Manager will steward the club's culture and traditions while advancing its reputation for excellence across golf, aqautics, dining and social programming.

The General Manager will work under the supervision of the Board of Governors, through the House Services Chair, the House Facilities Chair and the President.

The job responsibilties are as follows:

-Direct, administer and impelement Club policies and procedures

-Budgeting - preparing, coordinating and maintaining of budgets

-Oversee all clubhouse events

-Oversee all schedules for all clubhouse departments

-Oversee and coordinate with the accounting, administration and marketing departments

-Oversee JONAS POS system

-General monthly revenue reporting to the Board of Governors

-Ensure the highest standards for food, beverage, recreation and other services

-Assure effective orientation and training of all employees and enforce handbook policies

Candidate Qualifications

5+ years' work experience in a setting comparable to that of a private club with a strong emphasis on F&B

2+ years' experience as a manager or senior assistant manager.  Clubhouse management experience considered a plus

Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business or a related field

CMAA certification considered a plus

Ability to effectively interact with members, guests and team members at all levels of the organization

Ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions independently and to a high degree

Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures and hold staff accountable
