Hudson National Golf Club was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 1996 in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, though its site has a longer history, including a failed 1920s golf venture called Hessen Hills. The current course is built on the rugged, high-elevation property that was once home to the Kitchawank Indians and used by George Washington's troops for its commanding views. A significant renovation was completed in 2024 to update the course and facilities. In the 1920s, Milton Gordon envisioned an 18-hole course, a ballroom, and a mountaintop club called Hessen Hills. However, due to economic collapse and a lack of members, the project was never completed and the original clubhouse allegedly burned down in 1930. The course was built by blasting 130,000 cubic yards of rock to transform Gordon’s vision into a reality. The ruins of the old Hessen Hills clubhouse are still on property and were incorporated by Fazio as a unique feature, most notably by the fourth hole. The original clubhouse was renovated, and the club has expanded its amenities, including cottages, a fitness center, and fine dining facilities. The club is in Croton, NY along the beautiful Hudson River. The expansive outdoor dining Terrace offers views south all the way to NYC. The club is a five-minute ride from the Croton Train Station which has direct trains running to NYC which arrive to Grand Central Terminal in just 45 minutes!
