Unique Club/Facility Details

The Pittsburgh Golf Club, built in 1896 by a group of prominent citizens of Pittsburgh's East End. Located on the edge of Schenley Park. TPGC is a very traditional, private, well-kept secret in Pittsburgh. Most club members grew up within the confines of the club, learning from their parents and grandparents to value civility, decorum, and sportsmanship. As much as the walls and the furniture, these values are the essence of "The Pittsburgh Golf Club".

Today's members are, as were in years past, are leaders in their communities with many communities represented among them. The members know and enjoy the highest standards, both tangible and intangible, in all parts of their lives. The Pittsburgh Golf Club strives to reflect those standards, with consistent success, and welcomes newcomers who share them.

TPGC has a very active engaging membership. The membership supports club events, club sporting events, and many communities’ non-profit organizations.

Banquet Manager/Event Manager Training

Job Description

Working directly with the Event Manager and reports to the Clubhouse Manager. Works towards member and daily guest experience while ensuring that the goals for all Club and Outside Banquet Food & Beverage outlets are achieved. Work with Event Manager in coordinating all Events. Executes all Club and Outside Events. Ensure that all expectations are being met through active visible leadership and staff development with a high level of “attention to detail” skills.

Candidate Qualifications

1+ years of management experience, preferably in the private Club/hospitality/service industry is preferred.
Experience in banquet and event planning.
Be a focused and consistent evaluator of personnel, ensuring that standards of conduct and delivery are met; this includes oversight of high standards of appearance, hospitality, service, cleanliness of the food and beverage and clubhouse facilities.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Must be proficient in Excel, Access, Word, POS systems and working knowledge of club accounting, strong business aptitude, able to generate / review daily reporting related to rounds, sales, etc.

Educational Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from a four-year university, preferably in Hospitality management, is desired. Substantial hospitality experience will be considered.
Ongoing commitment to continuing personal and professional development.
