Culinary Intern
Job Description
The culinary internship/externship focuses on rotations through the different areas of the kitchen, including Banquets, A La Carte, Garde Manger, and Pastry, with the intern learning the skills needed in each area. Throughout the internship, the intern will carefully follow standard recipes while preparing assigned items for food service and consistently using safe and sanitary food handling practices. Responsibilities include maintaining clean and sanitary food preparation and service areas, monitoring ingredient quality and stock rotation, and ensuring food is properly stored and cooked at correct temperatures. The intern will assist with plating for service, support other cooks during rush periods and even help make the Cosmos Club specialty popover.
Candidate Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality preferred
- Superb customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solver and team player
- Should be detail oriented and communicate efficiently and effectively
- Flexible with varying schedules to reflect business needs
- Hours include working weekends and special member events as deemed necessary
