Communications Manager

Job Description

Position Summary

The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic, high-quality communications that inform, engage, and inspire Club members, guests, and leadership. This role serves as the steward of the Club’s messaging and brand standards across all platforms and channels. The ideal candidate is a sophisticated writer and strategic thinker with a strong editorial sensibility, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. The Communications Manager must be comfortable working closely with senior leadership and Club committees, offering thoughtful recommendations and innovative approaches to enhance Club communications.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with General Manager and Director of Member Services to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy supporting the Club’s brand, programs, and events.
  2. Oversee and execute all Club communications, including internal communications, marketing initiatives, website and mobile app content, calendars, monthly bulletins, and printed materials.
  3. Partner with Club management, leadership, and Club committees, to identify priorities and deliver effective communications solutions.
  4. Ensure consistent branding, messaging, tone, and visual identity across all communication channels and platforms.
  5. Create and deliver high-impact member communications across newsletters, email, website, mobile app, video, and other channels, producing clear, compelling written and visual content that reinforces the University Club’s brand and value proposition.
  6. Manage and maintain website and mobile app content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and vitality; collaborate with third-party web and app vendors on enhancements and evolving needs.
  7. Manage Club branding assets, including oversight of logo usage and visual standards.
  8. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of Club communications through data-driven analysis, leveraging insights to optimize strategy, reach, and member engagement.
  9. Provide communications support for member committee meetings and Club events, including on-site and hybrid (virtual) formats.
  10. Complete special projects and other assignments as directed by the Director of Member Services and the General Manager.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Exceptional written communication and adroit interpersonal skills, a polished presence, and a strong command of English grammar and style.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, digital publishing platforms, and Adobe Creative Suite (or comparable design tools) and Canva; experience with Club Essentials or similar club management software preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing website, mobile app, and digital content, with familiarity in social media content management.
  • Highly organized, creative, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven, with a service-oriented mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Communications, Marketing, or English, with prior hospitality industry experience considered a plus.
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in hospitality, private clubs, nonprofits, or community-based organizations

Salary Range

$60,000.00 to $79,999.00

Other Benefits

This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Club provides comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage, along with generous paid time off including vacation, personal days, holidays, and sick leave. Additional benefits include short-term and long-term disability coverage and a 401(k)-retirement plan with a Club contribution. The role is also eligible for holiday and performance-based bonuses.
