Communications Manager

Job Description

The Communications Manager plays an integral role in the development and execution of the BHYC's member communications and creative initiatives. Working closely with the Communications Director, this position helps ensure members receive timely, accurate, engaging, and consistent information across the Club's communication channels. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, creative communications professional with strong writing, design, digital content, and project-management skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, edit, and distribute member-facing communications, including newsletters, announcements, event promotions, notices, and other Club correspondence.

• Manage and maintain member-facing content across the BHYC's email, website, mobile app, social media, and other digital communication channels.

• Create brand-consistent creative materials, including graphic design, photography, photo editing, and basic video production, to support Club programs and events.

• Support the editorial development and production of Club publications from content collection and editing through design and production.

• Collaborate with Club departments, committees, and leadership to gather information, coordinate communications, and ensure content is timely, accurate, and consistent.

• Maintain Club calendars, schedules, event information, and other member-facing content across communication channels.

• Proofread and review communications and creative materials for accuracy, grammar, consistency, and adherence to BHYC brand standards.

• Provide communications and creative support for special projects and Club initiatives, particularly during the busy summer season.

• Administrative support for Club operations.

Candidate Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, hospitality, clubs, or a related environment preferred; private club or hospitality experience is a plus.

• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; experience with Canva or similar platforms.

• Experience with email marketing platforms, website content management systems, social media, and other digital communication tools preferred.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently. 

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience will also be considered.

Hours are typically 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended hours and select weekends and holidays required during the summer season and for certain Club events.
