The clubhouse is open Tuesday through Sunday. A description of each of our dining venues follows: Grill Room: If you would like a casual, family-oriented dining experience, The Grill Room is the perfect choice. The menus are changed concurrently with the seasons. Al fresco dining is also available on the Grill Terrace. Dining Room: This is the Club's flagship dining experience. Enjoy crisp, clean white linens in a space designed by architectural icon, Tim Siebert. Whether you are dining with us for a romantic occasion, entertaining guests or enjoying a special family dinner this venue is sure to please with its beautiful views of our Lagoon, Clubhouse and lush greenery. Lagoon Terrace: Bring your friends and family to The Lagoon to enjoy your meal outside! This poolside venue overlooking our Lagoon is perfect for a casual lunch or dinner. We offer both the Clubhouse and Chef's Signature menus during the week and on Saturdays. Sundays, we are thrilled to offer an improved menu with a variety of delicious selections to please everyone. Captain's Room: This enchanted banquet venue overlooks Roberts Bay and includes a nice covered terrace. This multipurpose room is available in the morning, afternoon and evening. Whether you plan to host a cocktail party, buffet, sit-down dinner or meeting this space can specially designed for your needs. Commodore's Room: If you are looking for a small venue the Commodore's Room which is situated in our Dining Room and can be closed off for privacy is for you. A great room for meetings and private dinners this room seats up to 30 comfortably. Bar & Living Room: Whether you are looking for an upscale atmosphere such as our Living Room or a pub atmosphere to enjoy a drink, we have both available to you in our Clubhouse. Either are great places to have a cocktail before dinner or an after dinner nightcap. We offer pub table seating, first come first serve in our Bar area. It is a relaxing room to enjoy a casual dinner with friends and/or family.

Special Club Features

The Field Club is a family-oriented private yacht and tennis club formed in 1957.  The Club is situated on the easterly shore of Roberts Bay on the Intercoastal Waterway, in Sarasota, Florida.  The Club is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Smithsonian Institution Archives of American Gardens.  Member amenities include three dining venues, banquet facilities, a 44 slip marina, nine Har Tru tennis courts, swimming pool, fitness center, and children’s activities.  The Club has a membership cap of 600 and currently has a waiting list.

Club is open 7 days per week, 12 months per year.

Brief Job Description

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Develop professional service-based relationships with members and guests.
  • Prepare annual food and beverage budget with realistic but challenging sales goals.
  • Monitor department performance against budgets.
  • Implement effective controls over food, beverage, and labor costs.
  • Maximize food and beverage revenues by identifying sales opportunities through marketing, including promotions and special events.
  • Prepare, organize, control, and maintain wine, beer, and liquor inventory.
  • Ensure a high standard of food and beverage quality, service, appearance, and hospitality.
  • Maintain knowledge of all aspects of daily Club operations, including operating hours and scheduled events.
  • Maintain knowledge of all food and beverage menu items and their ingredients and descriptions.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities and ensure Assistant Food & Beverage Manager and team maintain a strong presence on the floor during meal service, engaging with members and guests.
  • Engage with membership during meal service, imparting wine knowledge and assisting members and guests with wine recommendations, pairing, decanting, and overall wine service.
  • Develop short-term and long-term department goals; effectively and regularly communicate expectations and service goals to the food and beverage team.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise food and beverage management staff.
  • Develop and monitor dining room procedures and ensure staff complete all responsibilities during their shift.
  • Ensure Club’s compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards.
  • Handle, investigate, and resolve complaints from members, guests, and others regarding food quality, service, and accommodations.
  • Work with Executive Chef to develop creative food and beverage offering as needed.
  • Lead and conduct wine education and involvement for membership, including wine dinners.
  • Develop, lead, and conduct front of the house staff education program for wine knowledge and proper service techniques, including glassware, uncorking, pour levels, storage, beverage pairings and the ability to understand Member and guest preferences.
  • Ensure development of consistent front of the house staff and banquet staff training program.
  • Ensure the food and beverage management team is aware of Florida labor law basics and enforce labor codes as required by law.
  • Assist with special Club events including, but not limited to: formal events, children’s holiday events, wine dinners, and Board and Committee meetings as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned by General Manger.

Candidate Qualifications

  • English/ Spanish bi-lingual ability a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal communication, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Members, guests, clients, and fellow staff.
  • Intermediate POS system skills.
  • Dynamic outgoing personality; articulate, friendly, punctual, and proactive.
  • Comfortable leading a team in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of customer service, professionalism, and attention to detail; professional appearance appropriate for a premium country club.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper food and beverage service; knowledge of liquors, beers, wines/wine regions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

  • Associates Degree or higher in hospitality management or related field: Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years fine dining management experience; country club experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of food and beverage operations
  • CPR certified preferred
