Established in 1922, Manor Country Club is a member-owned, family-oriented club dedicated to top-quality member experiences. The club’s 850 member families enjoy two golf courses, indoor and outdoor tennis, pickleball, fitness, pool and bocce facilities. Total club revenues exceed $11 million, with food and beverage revenues of $3.5 million. The club features a main dining room and lounge, a casual pub, tiki bar, pool and golf course snack bars, and banqueting facilities for 250. Manor Country Club has a year round staff of 120, and an in season staff of 180.

Clubbouse Manager

Brief Job Description

Manor Country Club is searching for a talented, passionate, and professional team player to be our Clubhouse Manager. The Clubhouse Manager is an empathetic team motivator, with a hands-on servant leadership approach. They work with a unified team of passionate staff members who support and collaborate with each other like a professional sports team to ensure member and guest satisfaction. The Clubhouse Manager's two areas of focus are Food & Beverage and Locker Rooms, and leads all daily club operations pertaining to member dining, catering, events, locker rooms, and security. This role will drive Manor’s culture of hospitality excellence, high standards of service and creativity, and member engagement. The Clubhouse Manager effectively collaborates with the General Manager (GM), Assistant General Manager (AGM), and all departments of the Club. They are responsible for the operation of all aspects of the Clubhouse in the absence of the GM and AGM, and performs specific tasks as requested by the GM or AGM. The Clubhouse Manager is flexible, and is required to perform any job in whatever capacity, as requested by the General Manager or Assistant General Manager, that may be necessary for the smooth operation of Manor Country Club.

The Clubhouse Manager will...

  • Create an overall feeling of hospitality, warmth, and energy through interactions with members, staff, and guests in a highly visible role; greet guests and maintain an approachable presence throughout the Club while maintaining meaningful, appropriate, and effective relationships
  • Take genuine ownership of facilities and focus on a culture of "wow" factor moments for members
  • Plan and implement budgets and develop department standard operating procedures with General Manager/Assistant General Manager Plan and coordinate employee training and development programs
  • Hire, coach, discipline, and schedule employees in conjunction with the HR department and maintain employee documents; work with Club leaders and the HR department to ensure successful recruitment, retention, & performance of team members
  • Attend House Committee meetings and other committee meetings as required
  • Respond to member and guest complaints and promptly address their concerns
  • Monitor safety conditions and team member compliance with safety procedures
  • Ensure dress code standards are upheld by both members and staff as established in Club policies
  • Prepare concise reports and conduct employee performance reports in a timely manner
  • Ensure systems of accountability for inventory in all areas of responsibility

Candidate Qualifications

  • Has a positive mindset and uses their skills to develop team members into inspirational leaders
  • Holds a Hospitality Management degree and/or has advanced knowledge of management in a private country club
  • Has advanced knowledge of Food & Beverage operations and a strong Food & Beverage background
  • Has experience in managing multi-unit operations, brand standards, and organizational culture
  • Has proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Payroll, POS (Jonas Encore helpful)
  • Is an effective communicator able to collaborate with a team of professionals and volunteers, establish goals, and build strategies for deployment, including golf and tennis professionals and culinary department
  • Is able to to meet physical demands and responsibilities of the position - while regularly performing the essential functions of the job, the Clubhouse Manager will be standing, sitting and lifting/moving items or objects over 50 pounds
  • Is available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
