Golf Facilities

  • 18 hole course, par 72, designed by Tom Bendelow
The Country Club of Decatur golf course designed by one of the most prolific course architects in the early 20th Century, Tom Bendelow, is challenging and beautiful. The course layout will accommodate all levels of golfers from the junior to senior and beginner to advanced. The agronomic team led by our GCSAA Certified Golf Course Superintendent is dedicated to keeping the grounds in pristine condition. Our award- winning PGA Head Golf Professional and Golf Professional staff, offer lessons for all ages, and the golf shop carries CCD apparel and top brand name equipment. If we don’t have an item in stock, our Golf Professional staff can special order just about anything from our vendor partners to satisfy your golfing needs. We are currently under a $1.5 million dollar course renovation - bunkers, tee boxes, tree removal, pond dredging & cart paths are included. The renovation is led by renowned architect Billy Fuller and will make CCD the premier course in Central Illinois for Spring 2023.

Tennis Facilities

  • 6 indoor lighted Hard courts
CCD features three lighted, newly constructed professional grade tennis and 6 pickleball courts. The tennis program focuses on both adult and junior players, with clinics, private lessons and tournaments. Our dedicated Tennis Professionals provide a regimented program with fun and learning as the main goals. The opportunity for more competitive play is always prevalent as well.

Swimming Facilities

The swimming pool at CCD is one of the finest in the area and is open from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day. Features include 8 lap lanes for the more serious swimmer, a 1meter board in the diving well, and a smaller pool for young children. Our snack shop adjacent to the pool offers indoor and outdoor dining including poolside food and beverage service. Our full- service bar serves up the best in poolside cocktails. CCD has one of the top competitive youth swim team programs in the area, and also offers technique-based swim lessons and clinics for member’s children at all levels of experience. Members and their families enjoy the many Club parties or host their own during the summer on the expansive pool deck.

The Club offers several dining areas to satisfy the needs of its membership including our newly renovated Grille Room. You can dine in one of the three dining rooms, lounges, or outdoor settings. The beautiful patio and newly constructed wrap-around deck offer scenic views overlooking the pool, golf course and Lake Decatur. Our Executive Chef offers a wide assortment of artfully prepared entrees and hors d’oeuvres ranging from the casual burger and fries to extravagant dinner entrees. Our staff is dedicated to ensuring the highest standard of hospitality; the Country Club of Decatur offers unique facilities, excellent service, and exquisite cuisine. Throughout the year, CCD hosts several events such as Easter Brunch with the Easter Bunny and egg hunt, Mother’s Day Brunch, 4th of July Fireworks Party and Halloween Fall Festival, just to name a few. Additionally, every Sunday CCD offers an all you can eat brunch that includes a selection of salads, made to order omelets, numerous hot breakfast and lunch items and a variety of desserts. CCD also features an extensive array of varietal wines at various price points.

Job Tasks/Duties

  • Responsible for proper charge procedures, tip reports, ticket controls and daily sales reports and analysis.
  • Manages the department’s long-range staffing needs.
  • Assists in recruitment, training, supervision and termination of food and beverage staff.
  • Helps plan and approves the organizational chart and staffing and scheduling plans.
  • Monitors employee records to minimize overtime and keep labor costs within budget.
  • Helps plan and approves external and internal marketing and sales promotion activities for the department’s outlets and special club events.
  • Ensures all legal requirements are consistently followed, including wage/ hour and federal, state or local laws for food safety and the sale/consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Conducts monthly food inventory and maintains set food cost.
  • Researches new products and evaluates their cost and profit benefits.
  • Monitors purchasing and receiving procedures to ensure proper quantity, quality, and price for all food and food related purchases
  • Oversees actual food service on a daily basis.
  • Addresses member and guest complaints and advises the General Manager about appropriate corrective actions taken.
  • Monitors appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment and facilities.
  • Approves all product invoices before submitting to the Accounting Department.
  • Maintains records of special events, house counts, food covers and daily business volumes.
  • Audits and approves weekly payroll.
  • Establishes and maintains professional business relations with vendors.
  • Serves as manager-on-duty on a daily basis.

Candidate Qualifications

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations:

  • Exceptional cooking skills.
  • Plans and monitors all food-production-related costs.
  • Plans menus with Food and Beverage Director.
  • Develops food purchase specifications and standard recipes.
  • Maintains food quality and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to pair/match wine and food and develop a wine list with the Food and Beverage Director.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Educational Requirements

A college degree in Culinary Hospitality Management and/or its equivalent in the Country Club Culinary Management or Hospitality fields is preferred.
