The Club offers several dining outlets for your pleasure. The Grill room is the favorite for couples and families, followed by the Patio that serves the same group of members. The popular Upstairs Lounge is the perfect place to unwind after a long day on the course or courts. The Men's Grill is where most of the golfers end the round. During the summer the Pool Snack Bar serves many families.

Since 1914 the Jackson Country Club has maintained a rich tradition of excellence on behalf of its members. The private club features five amenities; critically acclaimed 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, fitness facility, professionally operated tennis department and 30,000 square foot clubhouse providing some of the best cuisine in the area. The staff works to provide an outstanding environment that promotes social and recreational enjoyment for its members and their guests.

According to Tennessee history five Jackson business men organized Jackson Country Club on February 7, 1914. The club was founded to promote and afford social pleasure, entertainment and enjoyment of, to and for its members and to encourage and promote athletic sports of all kinds and character for the pleasure and enjoyment of its members.

As the club celebrates its 100th anniversary Jackson Country Club is proud to uphold the tradition of serving its members and their guests. Through various buildings, lean years, war years, and "boom" years, the Club has been at the forefront of social and athletic activities in the Jackson area.

As Jackson has changed over the last 100 years, from a small town serviced by local families, to the "hub" of West Tennessee, built by corporate executives and sophisticated professionals, so too has the makeup of the membership of Jackson Country Club. Throughout all these changes the family traditions of Jackson has been preserved and even expanded upon through second and third generations of families belonging to the Club. The ever expanding young adult portion of club membership remains strong and represents over 15% of the total membership. Amenities for kids; swimming, tennis and golf remain at the forefront of Club activities.

Job Title

Clubhouse Manager

Brief Job Description

The Jackson Country Club is looking for a Clubhouse Manager who will be responsible for the overall operation of the Clubhouse. The Clubhouse Manager will direct the Food & Beverage, Banquets/Special Events, Facilities Maintenance, and Housekeeping departments while providing operational supervision to Accounting, Human Resources, all pool operations, workout area and Membership departments as well. A primary responsibility for this role is developing a budget for each department and managing within set controls to meet goals and align with the Club’s annual financial plan.

The Jackson Country Club has over 100 years of history as a leader in service excellence and clubhouse hospitality. The Clubhouse Manager is responsible for continuing to drive this culture of hospitality excellence, standards of service, and member engagement which requires full visibility and access to members. The Club House Manager should continually develop a culture within the clubhouse in which all staff are committed to create “wow” moments for members and guests.

Reports to:       This is a Senior Management Position and will report to the  Board of Director President

Candidate Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • A strong Hospitality Management background with 10 years of experience and/or equivalent advanced knowledge of management in a private club setting.
  • A minimum of 5years of Food & Beverage management experience.
  • Previous experience managing budgets across multiple departments to meet and exceed financial goals.
  • Previous experience in successful vendor management
  • Proven track record working in a service culture environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team of professionals and volunteers, establish goals, and build short and long term strategies for deployment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other applicable standards to meet state and federal regulations.
  • Computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft office Suite and Point of Sale Systems.
  • Demonstrate high level communication skills, both written and oral.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

There are 5 specific areas of responsibility:

Membership

  • Develops new and innovative ways in which to stimulate member activities and participation in Club events.
  • Addresses member and guest complaints and develops appropriate corrective actions.
  • Greets members and oversees actual service on a routine basis or as needed to accommodate special events.
  • Ensure that all services to members and guests are conducted in a highly professional manner.
  • Serves as the primary recruiter of new members and provides new member orientation.
  • Develop written communication and use various social media platforms to keep members informed and engaged.
  • Maintains the clubs web site to ensure the site attracts outside club interaction and provides member service information in an easy to use experience.

Food & Beverage

  • Make sure all members’ dining experiences meet the highest standard.
  • Work with the F & B manager to ensure the department is efficiently staffed with servers, bartenders, cooks, dishwashers, and food runners.
  • Work with the Food and Beverage Manager to create staffing plans that meet the ongoing needs of the clubhouse and support seasonal demand.
  • Plan and approve the internal marketing and promotional activities for the food and beverage department.
  • Work with the F & B Manager to ensure department costs meet implemented controls and event and menu pricing are competitive to align with financial plan.

Special Events/Banquets

  • Provide leadership and support to the special events planner in planning and implementing special club events and banquet functions. 
  • Drive the Country Club brand as an elite venue of choice for banquets, weddings, and special events.
  • Manage event pricing and cost  properly to supplement the income of The Club while maintaining a competitive position in the local market.
  • Ensure that all Food & Beverage banquets and special Events meet service standards, represent the values of The Club, and drive a position in the local market as an elite venue of choice.

Clubhouse

  • Manages the overall operation of the Clubhouse including supervision of Accounting, Human Resources, Membership, Housekeeping, and Maintenance departments. 
  • Maintains appearance, upkeep, and cleanliness of all Clubhouse facilities.
  • Oversee all facility improvements, remodeling, construction and repairs and manage with in appropriate budgets and capital plans.
  • Regularly inspect the clubhouse to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met.

Budget & Finance

  • Develops an operating budget for each department.
  • Implement controls and monitoring systems to ensure that each department meets its financial goals.
  • Attend and participate in Board and Finance Committee meetings.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and supervise the Clubhouse operations team including the F & B Director/Executive Chef, Human Resources, Accounting, Facilities Housekeeping and Maintenance, and other operational staff members.
  • Recruit, interview, and select clubhouse staff to deliver exceptional service and reflect the values of The Club and  
  • Conduct performance management activities to drive a positive work environment through effective training, supervision, coaching, and progressive discipline for all employees within the clubhouse departments.
  • Manage and promote internal talent through on-going professional development and training programs for staff.
  • Ensure legal compliance by consistently adhering to state and federal regulations including DOL wage and hour and all appropriate laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages and the service thereof.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and attitude on the part of all employees in areas of responsibility.
