Chevy Chase Club was organized in the fall of 1892. The Club is noted for its beautifully curated grounds featuring an English Formal Long Border next to a grand lawn. The lawn serves as the great melting pot of members who enjoy socializing in the club-made Adirondack chairs after a game of tennis, a golf match or prior to having dinner at the Club. Thirty-three acres of the Club property sits in a forest conservation easement. The 191-acre property (140 acres maintained) is hidden from surrounding communities through ample forestation and plantings yet the interior views across the course up to the Clubhouse proper are spectacular particularly at sunset. The Club sits amidst the neighboring communities of Chevy Chase, Bethesda and Friendship Heights in Maryland just north of the Washington, DC line. The Club remains somewhat formal even whilst being known as the best family Club in the area.

The campus setting begins with a traditional fieldstone Clubhouse, which is commodious and historic. Food and beverage facilities are diverse and include varied clubhouse dining outlets and venues: The Elm (elegant dining), The Tap Room (adult casual dining), full banquet facilities upstairs including a beautifully situated ballroom supported by a new service pantry and two smaller rooms, the Club Room and Hunt Room. The Club’s freestanding, high volume casual dining venue, the Winter Center, generates $3 million of the Club’s $6.4 million in Food and Beverage revenue and has been substantially expanded (both kitchen and dining areas) on multiple occasions over the past 20 years in response to increased demand. Additionally, there are two seasonal sports Canteens (golf and pool).
Chevy Chase Club is open seven days per week year-round and restricts aspects of the facilities on Mondays. Gross revenue is $29 million. There are 180 Food & Beverage employees at the height of season and a total of 2,400 memberships today.
