Advanced Supervisory Internship for Rising Seniors
Summer 2025 Internship Highlights
Training Opportunities:
The Poolside Grill intern will be exposed to all areas of the Seasonal Operations department (Poolside Grill & 10th Tee Snack Bar) in a large, private club environment, to supplement an academic program in hospitality management or related field. The intern will develop and demonstrate knowledge through a series of trainings and structured conversations with managers. The Poolside Grill Intern will take on various leadership responsibilities within the operation such as scheduling, requisitions, inventory, and payroll as well as supporting the Assistant Manager with running the day-to-day operations and managing the Poolside Grill team. The Poolside Grill Intern will learn valuable lessons on managing a team, bar and beverage operations, building connections with members, department budgeting and front & back of house relations. In addition to the in-depth training within the Seasonal Outlets, interns will also have the opportunity to participate in various educational program opportunities, such as:
- Farmington Country Club Orientation & Historical Tour
- Attendance to CMAA Education Session & Club Tour
- Meeting(s) with General Manager/COO and Assistant General Manager to discuss career goals and ask questions
- Opportunity to shadow & work in other departments
- Various Workshops throughout the summer:
- Resume and Cover Letter Review & Workshop with HR Manager
- Beverage Workshops & trainings with Beverage Manager
- Golf & Racquets Workshops with the Head Golf Pro and Head Racquets Pro
- Finance Workshop with Head of Finance
- Attend various meetings that would be beneficial to the intern’s development
- Bi-Weekly meetings with direct manager and/or internship program facilitator for on-going feedback and goal setting
- Participate in club-sponsored training offered during the internship period, which may include: Safety Certification Training (First Aid, CPR, AED) and Safe Beverage Service Training (TIPS)
Training Program Evaluation:
There will be two performance reviews during the internship. One will be given halfway through the program and one at the conclusion. These reviews are designed to provide constructive feedback on your performance and in conjunction with the scheduled bi-weekly supervisory meetings, to encourage a structured learning environment. At the conclusion of the training program, interns, together with the supervising manager, review and evaluate the internship experience and its applicability to the interns’ future career goals.
Housing:
Farmington provides fully furnished apartments to interns on a space-available basis, which they share with other interns. A weekly payroll deduction covers each intern’s use of the apartment.
