Golf Facilities

Situated on 184 acres of rolling terrain with the Noroton River winding through it, the course is a rich natural habitat, justly deserving its recognition by the National Audubon Society as the first golf course to be a bird sanctuary. Designed by Willie Park, Jr., a two-time British Open champion and world-renowned golf course architect, Woodway challenges golfers of all skill levels, mainly because it requires them to hit “all of the shots.” The yardage from the back tees measures 6,901 yards, but the course’s true challenge and enjoyment – regardless of which tees you play – is its unique and deceptive greens. Justifiably, the Club is regularly ranked as one of the best in the state by Golf Digest. Over the years, Woodway has hosted many golf tournaments and notable exhibitions. Golfing legends such as Bobby Jones, Harry Vardon, and Arnold Palmer have graced its fairways. Four Connecticut Open Championships (1964, 1983, 1995, and 2016) have been hosted at Woodway. But more than just a course to play, the Club is a place to be. From our excellent practice facilities, vibrant caddie program, and 1916 Terrace, Woodway provides a full golf experience from start to finish. Head Golf Professional Michael Crawford and his experienced staff orchestrate a wide variety of offerings and events, including group clinics, individual instruction, a bustling junior program, and a plethora of member tournaments and outings for both men and women. From the multi-day member tournaments to mixed summer twilights, and everything in between, Woodway golfers enjoy it all.

Woodway offers top-notch tennis facilities for players of all ages and abilities. Our recently renovated pool and tennis complex features ten Har-Tru clay tennis courts and a relaxing viewing pavilion where you and your guests enjoy refreshments after a match. Our Beach Club property offers two Deco Turf hard courts overlooking Long Island Sound. Our certified tennis staff consists of five full-time professionals who offer programs during the spring, summer and fall including private and group instruction, interclub league play, USTA league play, social and competitive tournaments, and events for adults and children.

Woodway’s pool complex features six fifty-meter lanes, a twelve-foot diving well, a gated baby pool, and a dining pavilion to cater to everyone’s “day at the pool” experience. Beginning in late June, Woodway's pool complex is in full swing for our Swim, Dive and Water Polo teams which have a wide range of talents from beginner to advanced. Our experienced veteran pool staff is professional, knowledgeable and patient as they share their expertise and teach the children new skills so everyone gets the most out of their summer at the pool. • Open May through September, located on Shippan Point in Stamford, CT, Woodway Beach Club's relaxed yet refined waterfront property offers several recreational options for the membership including swimming, paddle boarding, & kayaking. Many members say that spending time at the Beach Club is a mini vacation! The Beach Club dining options throughout the summer range from simple at the snack bar to extravagant fine dining with a la carte and featured menu evenings such as surf and turf. In fact, most menu items are farm-to-table or sea-to-table. Every single seat in the house has a view of Long Island Sound

Manager In Training Intern

Brief Job Description

This internship is for someone who has previous restaurant or club experience of at least (2) Summers. The manager in the training internship program will give students the ability to gain all skills needed to go into the country club work force at a mid-level management roll. Interns will learn all aspects of front of house management with a focus in Food & Beverage and will be coached & mentored by the Club’s management team. The Primary responsibility will be supervising the beach clubs dining outlets. Qualified candidates will learn about A La Carte Service & Floor management, Event & Banquet Service, Menu Design, Back of house POS management, Scheduling, & Hiring. This internship provides hands-on experience in managing beach club dining facilities, focusing on leadership development and operational excellence.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, and strive to be part of a team environment.
  • Comfortable with extended periods of time standing, walking, climbing stairs, as well as lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • (2) Summers of restaurant or club experience
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management software is a plus.

Educational Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management and have an interest in private clubs.
