Golf Facilities

  • 18 hole course, par 71, designed by William Flynn
The spectacular William Flynn designed championship golf course was completed as 18 holes in 1923 and has basically remained the same layout. The course is a par 71, and has a yardage ranging from 5,013 yards to 6,210 yards from the championship tees. In addition to hosting Members and their guests, the course has hosted top PGA professionals over the years including Mike Souchak and Jerry McGee and the famous British female amateur, Joyce Wethered. The Pro Shop is in a separate building from the Clubhouse and has a large lounge area.

Tennis Facilities

  • 2 outdoor Hard courts
Racquet Sports are an essential part of Eagles Mere. The 4 pickleball courts are full with members and guests of all ages. Our two Tennis Courts offer members a Har-Tru surface and the opportunity to play when pickleball is not being played.

Eagles Mere Country Club, (EMCC) in Pennsylvania’s picturesque Endless Mountains (Sullivan County) is set in a small resort town, lovingly referred to as “the Town that Time Forgot.”  The historic and quaint Eagles Mere village is nearby and overlooking Eagles Mere Lake. The Village became a summer retreat as a second home community for wealthy families from Philadelphia and other eastern cities in the late 1800s. Today, Eagles Mere has approximately 125 full time resident families and swells to over 3,000 in the summer.

Founded in 1911, EMCC has evolved into a more inclusive private club than was envisioned by its founders. EMCC has grown and changed to suit the style, needs, and character of today’s membership. The Club’s responsibility is to continue to adapt with the diverse membership, while continuing to uphold its tradition of excellence.

The historic Club has quietly built a reputation for its friendly Members and its broad appeal to families in its dedication to promoting an active lifestyle. EMCC is member owned, governed by a Board of Directors and currently has over 410 total Member families. Many of the Eagles Mere members are also members at some of the finest private clubs on the East Coast including Merion, DuPont Country Club, Robert Trent Jones, Pine Valley and more.

EMCC is steeped in rich history and tradition, from its William Flynn designed golf course to its longstanding commitment to its membership, Eagles Mere, and surrounding communities. The Club is an equity Club and is open 12 months a year but EMCC is busiest in the summerThe historic clubhouse overlooks the mountains and recently completed a Clubhouse renovation project to build a new Grill Room and Bar plus outside dining venues. The Club hosts an average of 20 to 30 Member events per year and a number of non-Member events.

Food & Beverage Intern

Brief Job Description

Excellent summer Hand-on learning opportunity, with full exposure to running a foodservice at the Club. You will enhance member satisfaction through the supervision of day-to-day operations of our Food and Beverage Program including our new outdoor patio. This position may also be assigned other food and beverage duties and will encompass special project assignments and exposure to other operational areas of the Club based on Eagles Mere’s needs.

This position requires previous fine-dining experience and solid supervisory skills to assist the General Manager to manage the core and seasonal staff while delivering the best service to our membership. In addition to managing the floor, you will get exposure to managing inventories, overseeing staffing and scheduling, facilitating pre-meal/F&B training, as well as assisting Servers and Bussers as needed on the floor. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Will help supervise the dining room under the guidance of the General Manager
  • Responsible for helping maintain highest standards of appearance and cleanliness of the dining room.
  • Active leadership of daily staff meetings, by communicating in an efficient manner: daily specials, reservations, special requests and by reviewing key policies and procedures.
  • Ensures correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment and reports any concerns (maintenance and other) to management.
  • Will help take reservations, distribute menus, and take orders when needed.
  • Greets and seats members and guests and brings comments, suggestions, and complaints to the GM’s attention
  • Maintains a presence in the dining room by making sure service is flawless and member satisfaction is consistently met.
  • Works with management on developing new menu concepts, monthly inventories, pricing, and other training activities.
  • Will help enforce sanitation practices for food handling and general cleanliness guidelines for our restaurants. - Will manage, motivate, and discipline employees when necessary

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS 

  • In this position, be prepared to delegate tasks as well as being part of the team and working alongside the culinary and bartending teams to make sure everything is taken care of. A large part of the internship is learning how to manage people and time, as well as ensuring a memorable and consistent service experience for members. You will be working about 50 to 60 hours per week, over 6 and occasionally 7 days as needed. Available to work weekends, Nights, Early AM shifts and Holidays.

Housing is provided. This is a dorm style living arrangement providing double rooms and a shared bathroom. This will be a great place to meet co-workers and make friends.

JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS/SPECIALIZED COURSES AND/OR TRAINING: 

  • Good organizational skills and an ability to multitask is a must for dealing with diverse duties and situations.  - Well versed in Hospitality / Culinary Terms.

LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Must be able to communicate & interact professionally with members & employees in English language.   

  PHYSICAL, SENSORY AND MOTOR DEMANDS: 

  • Able to move fast and multi-task in a fast paced, high stress / pressure environment (Heat and Action) - Frequent Standing for extended periods of time.  - Frequent Walking to collect or deliver goods in various kitchens Regular Lifting.  - Excellent physical fitness, visual acuity, and sense of smell to work in the kitchen and restaurant safely.

 

Educational Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate / Bachelor degree in Hospitality / Restaurant Management is desirable (if enrolled in a Bachelor Degree, Junior or Senior year preferred) with previous fine-dining and supervisory experience in luxury hotels or private Clubs required - Food and Beverage Knowledge: Must understand the service flow of a fine dining outlet, as well as be able to aid in quality control.
