Controller
Brief Job Description
The Controller will lead the day-to-day finance operations of the Club and supervises one to two staff members, including functional responsibility over accounting and treasury functions including, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expenses allocations, month and year-end close, taxes, cash management and insurance.He/She will work closely with other department heads and their staff. The Club Controller, in partnership with the General Manager and Finance Chair, is involved in managing the club's business performance. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
Candidate Qualifications
Has a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Has a proven track record of working independently, as well as, within a team environment
Has thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Point-f-Sale preferably Jonas Software
Has demonstrated the ability to follow through on deadlines and commitments
Review membership applications for completeness and assurance with program and legal requirements
Lead the relationship with external auditors and tax advisors
Ongoing interaction with club members on problem resolutions, membership assistance, and other general inquiries
Prepare annual operating, capital, and cash flow budgets and financial forecasts in coordination with the General Manager
Provide monthly actual to budget variance analysis
Educational Requirements
Previous Controller or Head of Accounting supervisory role
Proficient in Jonas and Microsoft Office
Preferably a Certified Public Accountant with a background in Hospitality
