Established in 1932, the Lewes Yacht Club (LYC) is a private yacht club located in Lewes, Delaware. Lewes, a historic town founded in 1631, is situated at the meeting point of the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Henlopen. The preserved land of Cape Henlopen State Park features miles of pristine beaches, nature trails, and bird sanctuaries. Lewes proudly claims to be "The first town in the first state." Within a half-square mile in Lewes, you can find the historic district, museums, inns, bed and breakfasts, fine dining establishments, and a variety of shops. Lewes is a popular vacation and resort destination for residents of the Mid-Atlantic Region.

LYC has recently completed a $7.5 million expansion and enhancement project. The club currently has a waitlist of over 500 members, as memberships are in high demand. LYC offers an outstanding marina, upgraded pool area, and exceptional sailing opportunities on the Delaware Bay, with stunning sunset views in the Mid-Atlantic. The club was established to promote water sports, boating, casual sailing, and racing competitions. It is steeped in history and tradition but maintains a casual and relaxed atmosphere.

Clubhouse Manager

Brief Job Description

The Clubhouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Club's daily clubhouse operations. This includes managing resources and employees, ensuring an exceptional experience for members, and providing support and oversight for both member and non-member events. The Clubhouse Manager plays a vital role in the day-to-day management of the clubhouse and its team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain a strong, visible, and respectful presence with the members.
- Ensure exceptional member experiences by upholding high service standards and addressing member needs promptly and effectively.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with members by understanding their needs and preferences.
- Regularly engage with members to keep them informed about club activities and services.
- Handle member feedback, complaints, and concerns in a professional and effective manner, ensuring satisfactory resolution.
- Collaborate with club leadership to develop and execute strategic plans for clubhouse operations.
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage clubhouse staff, ensuring adherence to club policies and delivery of excellent service.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for all areas of responsibility.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
- Work with other department heads to ensure a seamless and integrated member experience across all club services.
- Participate in management meetings to coordinate activities and share updates.
- Develop and manage the clubhouse budget, ensuring financial goals are met and costs are controlled.
- Oversee inventory management and procurement for clubhouse operations.
- Coordinate and manage all clubhouse events, including member events, private parties, club functions, and external events.
- Supervise the maintenance and upkeep of clubhouse facilities to ensure they are in good repair and aesthetically pleasing.

Candidate Qualifications

- A minimum of five years of management experience in a similar high-end club or similar environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- A solid understanding of the premier club experience and proven ability to execute at that level.
- Experience in hiring, supervising, managing, mentoring, and developing high-achieving employees.
- Organized, consistent, detail-oriented, and able to multitask and prioritize.
- Professional and patient demeanor with superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in leading and growing dynamic clubhouse operations, including building revenues, controlling costs, and meeting or exceeding planned bottom-line goals and objectives in food and beverage operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, report generation, and membership database management.
- Extensive knowledge of all areas of clubhouse operations and a strong background in Food and Beverage.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively among diverse constituencies of members, staff, vendors, and guests.
