Brief Job Description

Piping Rock Club is seeking interns for our Suymmer, 2025 season.  This position has a basis in Food and Beverage operations, but offers expereince with all administrative and operational departments, especially in how they intereact with food and beverage to provide a top Membership experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW:           Gain practical experience in the Restaurant operation of a private Country Club, while learning from the other departments.  Learn how the food and beverage departments interact with these departments to provide the best overall service to the Club’s membership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                

  • Greet members and guests warmly and professionally.
  • Follow the Dining Room management team in learning about the standards of service, scheduling, POS, and menu development.
  • Assist with restaurant set-up and seating diagrams.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders in the restaurants.
  • Stay informed on all menu items, including seasonal changes.
  • Enter orders into the point-of-sale system.
  • Remain knowledgeable about allergens and communicate with the members.  Be familiar with listing of member allergies.
  • Communicate special requests to the kitchen staff.
  • Learn and practice food safety regulations.
  • Assist with inventory counts and valuations.
  • Assist with breakdown of events and set-up for future events in that specific space.
  • Work with Accounting and Human Resources to learn the basics of billing, recruitment and payroll.
  • Work with the managers of the Clubhouse, Golf, and Tennis to learn how the F & B operation works with their departments to provide a well-rounded experience to the Membership.

Candidate Qualifications

The perfect candidate for this position is currently enrolled in a Hospitality Business Bachelors’ program while seeking a possible career in Private Club Management.  Ability to stand for extended periods and lift and carry trays of food and beverages.  Must be communicative and have a friendly demeaner.

$20,000.00 to $29,999.00

Other Benefits

This position has an hourly rate of $18.00.  Additionally, the postion is eligible for New York State Spread of Hours pay, and is Bonus eligible.  We offer free housing in our Staff Dormitory, which is located on property.  Lunch is available daily, as well as dinner when working the evening shift.   Having a car is not required, but parking is available for those that choose to bring one.  We are in a suburban location which is a short commuter rail ride to midtown Manhattan.  The Locust Valley train station is within walking distance.
